法新社報導，美國國防部19日說，目前正前往賴比瑞亞、協助對抗伊波拉疫情的美國部隊，將不會「直接接觸」伊波拉病患，而只是協助訓練醫療衛生人員。

國防部發言人柯比說，預定部署在賴比瑞亞的3000多名美軍，將攜帶防護衣，但「目前軍方無意讓美軍官兵與病患直接接觸」。
