強颱帕姆狂襲萬那杜至少8死20傷

南太平洋島國萬那杜13日深夜到14日，遭5級強烈熱帶氣旋帕姆（Pam）侵襲。帕姆挾帶時速340公里的狂風，掀飛屋瓦、拔起路樹，掀起8公尺高巨浪，惡水淹沒良田，沖毀供電與通訊系統，至少造成8人死亡、20人受傷。

萬那杜由83個大小島嶼組成，帕姆切斷各島嶼間的交通與通訊，部分偏遠島嶼恐怕要幾周後才能取得救援品、糧食及乾淨水源。萬那杜本島機場則因風勢過大而關閉，澳洲及聯合國均表示願意提供救難協助，考慮使用軍機運送救援團隊及物資，並做「最壞打算」。
