走私工具機到北韓 蔡顯泰認罪

67歲台灣商人蔡顯泰（Alex Hsien-Tai Tsai）涉嫌將製造大規模殺傷性武器的工具機走私到北韓，違反美國相關禁令，10日在芝加哥聯邦法院認罪。關於刑期，法官諾戈（Charles Norgle Sr.）目前還沒有決定，蔡的辯護律師休巴特（Steven Shobat）希望低於16個月，檢方則希望求處2年半左右。

蔡賢泰涉嫌用36歲兒子蔡岳勛（Yueh-Hsun Tsai）的名字開設空殼公司，從伊利諾州某公司購買可鑽出光滑、毫無偏差之洞的中心孔研磨機，再走私到北韓販賣，2013年5月在愛沙尼亞被捕，與在芝加哥家中被捕兒子一起被起訴，面臨密謀擴散大規模殺傷性武器機件和零件的指控。

根據《美聯社》報導，蔡顯泰10日戴著腳鐐出庭，透過中文翻譯受審，在長達24頁的認罪協議中，翻供承認犯下密謀罪，希望能縮短刑期。
